Say no to torture

This week, Reuters reports that the 'torture porn' movement -- "Saw," "Hostel" and their ilk -- may be over.

I say 'good riddance.' "Hostel" director Eli Roth has talent and potential to burn, so maybe he'll turn his abilities in a new direction.

Feh. Presentation, presentation, presentation: those films may have had a longer screen half-life if they were delayed until the February doldrums. There always is an audience for the varied horror genres, and increasing Census numbers only grow that audience. The key is to get bums in seats w/o competition from stronger sources, such as Transformers, that aim at the same targeted demographic.
