No pods, no glory

The fourth version of Jack Finney's sci-fi novel "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" hits theaters today, its title shortened to "The Invasion."
It's got Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and not a pod in sight. The updates made to the "Snatchers" formula don't add up to a superior remake - check out my review for more details.

Hey Toto! What do you make of the scenery in The Invasion? As a recently departed DC resident, what is your opinion -- does the movie show much of the city or does it look like generic any-city with a Metro scene thrown in?

You definitely get a sense of DC ... especially with a metro shot or two. But someone refers to the metro as the 'subway' which is odd, and like many movies the DC backgrounds are often very brief and/or negligible

You were generous.

And I have to admit, the Metro's stations are the "creepiest" tube tunnels in existance, devoid of human touches, I halfway expected aliens to start hatching from the boneycombed walls everytime I went down there ... couple that with escalators 350 feet deep, and I can't understand why someone doesn't make a flick centered entirely on an undeground breed of icky creatures that live in the metro.

No, I'm not talking about the panhandlers.
