An 'Abduction' worth remembering

Last year gave us a treasure trove of great documentaries, from the brilliant "Deliver Us From Evil" to the Oscar-winning "An Inconvenient Truth." Lost in the proverbial shuffle was "Abduction: The Megumi Yokota Story," now available on DVD. Directed by D.C. filmmakers Chris Sheridan and Patty Kim, "Abduction" shares the horrifying tale of a young Japanese girl who was kidnapped by North Korean spies. Poor Megumi was one of several Japanese citizens similarly captured, but the documentary focuses on Megumi's heartbroken family.
The directors never push our emotional buttons too hard in telling this neglected story, making it expertly crafted as well as undeniably compelling. For more information on the film and to buy the DVD, visit its official web site.
