"Bee Movie?" More like B-minus

Jerry Seinfeld's overhyped "Bee Movie" hits theaters today, and here's me stinging the film for The Washington Times. Rottentomatoes.com gives the movie a 53 percent rating, which sums up my feelings - not bad, wish it were better. I do love the vocal work in "Bee." And if you think providing voices for animated characters is easy, try watching "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas." Brad Pitt's vocal performance as Sinbad is just awful, and while it would be easy to mock the handsome actor's body of work, he's actually a fine actor in live action films.

Overhyped indeed: he is as mediocre a voice actor as he is a television "actor," and btw his wife's huckstering, I am PR'd out on Seinfeld. Better to follow Larry David's example and give the audience more of the same, or just return to the sidelines and count his money.

It certainly is odd that he chose this film as his first big post-"Seinfeld" project. Then again, it might be crazy for him to try another traditional sitcom.
