Standing up is hard!

Meryl Streep is afraid. Not of the terrorists, or of high gas prices, but of speaking out against the Bush administration.

From a "Lions for Lambs"- based interview in the new Time magazine (hat tip: newsbusters.org):
STREEP: Because we're afraid to speak. Even though we have the freest society, supposedly, I think many of us are afraid to speak up. And we vilify the people that do speak up. You're told you're not supporting the troops.
REDFORD: If you're against us, you're not patriotic.
STREEP: So to me this film is about the difficulty of standing up and saying what you think. Standing up is very, very difficult.

If one more actor complains that he/she is afraid of speaking up about politics my head may implode. All we've heard from celebrities for the past six or so years is how evil/dumb/misinformed/criminal the current administration is. They shout it at movie premieres, from glossy magazine features and from publicity junkets. And they have every right to speak their minds. But please, please stop with the censorship canard.
