And the WAFCA winner is ...

We don't have envelopes. Heck, we don't even have a hip name for our awards like Oscar or Golden Globe. But my fellow members of the Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association and I voted for our annual movie awards this afternoon. I'll post the winners Monday morning. Suffice to say I've been watching a ton of movies of late, most of them quite good ("The Lookout," "Starting Out in the Evening" and "Four Months, Three Weeks and Two Days" among the best). Still, comparing films and the performances within is such an apples and oranges affair it makes me appreciate the big boys and girls who vote for the Academy Awards.
For me, the best part about voting is realizing there are still so many terrific movies being made, both here and across the globe. Takes some of the sting away from lemons like "The Mist."
