Better bring the book

Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig should avoid being on the same sound stage together. They're fine actors, no doubt, but after the calamitous sci-fi film "The Invasion" and now "The Golden Compass," it's clear they're bringing bad movie karma upon each other.

"Compass," out today, does a clunky job of transferring a popular text to the big screen. My review in The Washington Times details the mistakes. Not sure how large a following the book has, but in a weak week for mainstream features "Compass" could steer plenty of people its way.
