No tip for this 'Waitress'

Keri Russell inspired a media firestorm when she cut her hair at the height of "Felicity's" run. Yet her work in the indie charmer "Waitress" drew far fewer headlines. Who said art was fair? Russell's film career hasn't added up to much so far ... a bit part in "Mission: Impossible III" here and a unremarkable turn in "The Upside of Anger" there. But with "Waitress," just released on DVD, she showcases genuine star power. Caught it again this weekend, and her work is just as beguiling the second time around.
So why no Best Actress buzz around her performance? Sure, Julie Christie is a lock for a nomination, and deservedly so. But Russell deserves to be in the mix, at the least.

Remind me to never see a movie described as "beguiling."

Merry Christmas.

You are in a Scroogie mood ... beguiling is a great word, although I admit it took me years to be confident enough to use it.
