One writer's view

A Hollywood writer's life sounds pretty cushy. Bask in the glow of Tinseltown but avoid the paparazzi parade. That's never been less the case than now, with the industry knee deep in a strike that's wiping out shows old and new.
One writer, who prefers to remain anonymous, shared with me what he's going through at the moment.
He describes the strike as "necessary, but terrible."
"A lot of people are out of work. My own career was moving incredibly fast, but such is the case for many others. Especially those with shows just starting to get popular," he says. Many writers work free of charge for years just to catch a break, he adds.
At this point, the viewing public doesn't appear panicked by the strike. But as more TV favorites hit perpetual repeats, and as a slew of reality shows hit the airwaves, that may change.

A young DU alum had just "made it," cracked into the world of writing, on the staff of ABC's Pushing Daisies, when the strike came ... he's upbeat, but concerned.

And if you think the viewing pulic isn't panicked, just you wait, networks are talking about returning Donny and Marie to TV ... no, I'm not making that up. Halp.
