Hulk mad ... at marketing division
Where, o where is the Incredible Hulk?
"Cloverfield's" studio snuck peeks at its picture months before its debut, sparking a maelstrom of marketing buzz for movie fans.
And while we've already seen this summer's "Iron Man" streaking through the sky in numerous trailers, the same can't be said of his big, green peer.
Check out "The Incredible Hulk's" Web site. Two images and a bare bones story breakdown. That's all. Comic Book Nation needs more than that to get excited over.
Could we have a bust on our hands? The cast sure tells me otherwise - Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, William Hurt and Tim Roth. That's quality. And Norton, one of Hollywood's brightest talents, helped pen the script.
Perhaps they're trying to play up the mystery of what Hulk 2.0 will look like. But "Cloverfield" did it right by offering tantalizing glimpses of the creature, or at least what the creature is capable of doing.
Given how competitive the Summer '08 movie season will be, the minds behind "The Incredible Hulk" better have an ace or two up their sleeves or their film will get lost in the popcorn shuffle.

I can't understand it, either. Is it just me, or does Norton get the marketing shaft on a lot of his films? The Painted Veil was such a wonderful movie - nobody even knew it was coming out b/c I didn't see ONE trailor for it. It doesn't make ANY sense!!!!
Interesting ... I really enjoyed "The Painted Veil," too, and thought it could have scratched up a few critics group nods ... but nothing doing. He's a smart guy, but maybe he needs to start talking to his marketing division team. Or, hit the web and start talking up "Hulk" to movie sites.
After Hulk I turned out to be Howard the Duck II, maybe the marketing dept. is a little shy about putting out word of the project until they've seen a rough cut ... best way to kill a bad idea is to publicize it.
Ed has a "difficult" rep in the H'wood community that competes with his legitimate talent as an actor (not star).
I suspect that while Mr. Squires' remarks have validity, there also may be some friction behind the low-degree buzz (even the comics world has been subdued).
