We're jamming ... for Oscars

Biopics are catnip to Oscar voters. So news that a Bob Marley film just got greenlit should send every African-American actor who can carry a tune scrambling for his agent's phone.

The Weinstein Company announced today it owns the rights to produce a biopic of the late reggae sensation. The film will be based on "No Woman No Cry: My Life with Marley," written by the singer's widow, Rita Marley. No director or lead actor has been assigned to the film, but Lizzie Borden ("Working Girls") is writing the script.

Marley, who died in 1981 at the age of 35, is best known for reggae classics like "One Love" and "Jamming." Plus, it's a law that his image must adorn at least 33 percent of all dorm rooms in the U.S.
